Born in Woodbridge, NJ, Wesley grew up in Teaneck, NJ until moving to Shaker Heights, Ohio prior to high school.

Wesley is a proud graduate of Shaker Heights High School, where he served two years as editor of The Shakerite, Ohio's best high school newspaper (if you ask him). He also was a leader in the Student Group on Race Relations and Minority Achievement Committee and delivered an "um"-filled commencement speech that has thankfully never hit Youtube.

After high school, Wesley attended the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University where he spent much more time working for The Post than he did attending class. His transcript is reflective of that.

After spending three years camped out in The Post's newsroom, Wesley was named the the paper's 2nd African American editor-in-chief in its 100-year history. More info on his work as EIC is available here.

Wesley has been a member of the National Association of Black Journalists since 2007, and has attended every convention since UNITY 2008 in Chicago. In August 2011 he was elected to the organization's national board of directors.

He is also a paid member of the Online News Association, the Society of Professional Journalists and the Post Alumni Society (of which he is a board member).

In what has seemed like a long (but has been, in reality, short) professional career, Wesley has helped cover presidential elections, basketball coaching searches, school shootings, death penalty court cases, crazy storms, congressional races, Black Friday, and tons of other stuff. He's also been retweeted by cool people like Brian Stelter and Mark Luckie.
